President Marcos Vows Justice in Missing Sabungeros Case—No Special Treatment for the Powerful
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is taking a firm stance in the ongoing investigation surrounding the disappearance of cockfighting enthusiasts, or sabungeros, assuring the public that no individual—regardless of fame or influence—will be exempt from accountability.
The renewed commitment to justice comes amid explosive new allegations that prominent personalities may be linked to the case that has gripped the nation for over three years.
Palace: “No One Is Above the Law”
Speaking at a press briefing, Palace press officer Claire Castro emphasized the President’s resolve to pursue the truth without fear or favor, even if it involves high-profile figures.
“Justice must be served,” Castro stated. “Whether one is a celebrity or a businessman, the law will apply equally.”
New Testimony Sparks Fresh Scrutiny
Recent developments in the investigation came to light when a key witness, Julie Dondon Aguilar Patidongan, also known as “Totoy,” named businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and actress Gretchen Barretto as alleged masterminds in the case. Totoy had previously pointed fingers at multiple police officers and shared a chilling account of how the victims may have been killed and disposed of to prevent recovery of their remains.
Ongoing Pursuit for Accountability
The Palace reinforced its message that no connections or social standing will shield anyone from facing the consequences if they are proven to be involved.
“This case is about giving justice to the families who have waited too long for answers,” Castro added. “A thorough and impartial investigation is not just necessary—it is non-negotiable.”
As the investigation continues, the public watches closely, hoping that the full truth behind the mysterious disappearance of the sabungeros will soon be uncovered—and that justice will finally prevail.
